Discuss recommendation to modify the scope of pilot. Review and approve or suggest changes to modeling.

Pilot Scope Discussion

  • Approved by consensus is removal from the pilot several SNOMED CT observable (nutrition assessment), finding (nutrition diagnosis), and procedures/regime/therapies (nutrition intervention) concepts (highlighted in yellow).

  • Approved by consensus the approach to remodel all 12 Inadequate or Excessive nutrition diagnoses (findings) based on the examples in the document and provide them on a future CPG meeting consent agenda (concepts highlighted in green).

Pilot Modeling review:

Nutrition related skill education (E-2.2) (NI/procedure)

  • Provide the minutes excerpt from this meeting to the NCPRO Committee recommending re-reviewing of Food and nutrition related knowledge deficit nutrition diagnosis since it contains knowledge and skills, whereas, these are separate in NA/ME and NI.

  • A separate skills deficit finding then could be used to define this procedure concept.

  • A further step to underpin the finding concept would require a concept of Level of nutrition skills (observable entity) (or something like that as SNOMED CT does not have concepts like this).

Nutrition related content education (E-2.1) (NI/procedure)

  • Provide the minutes excerpt from this meeting to the NCPRO Committee recommending re-reviewing of Food and nutrition related knowledge deficit nutrition diagnosis since it contains knowledge and skills, whereas, these are separate in NA/ME and NI.

  • The current Food and nutrition related knowledge deficit finding could be used to define this procedure concept.

  • Food and nutrition related knowledge deficit needs to be created in SNOMED CT.

  • A further step to underpin the finding concept, Food and nutrition related knowledge deficit concept (just knowledge), a concept of Knowledge level of nutrition (observable entity) (or something like).

Constipation (PD-1.1.5.9) (finding)

  • There was consensus that 5668004 |Lower gastrointestinal tract structure (body structure)| is more accurate as the finding site than the whole GI structure in the current model.

  • The recommendation is recommend this change to SNOMED CT and alert them that this may create a conflict with another attribute of Interprets → 39211005 |Bowel action (observable entity)| since the new concept (5668004) does not have the synonym ‘bowel.’
