3.2 Predicted NCPT concepts

03.3 EAG proposal-Nursing CRG comments

03.4 SNOMED response to nursing feedback

D. Pertel

E. Wooler

The at risk concepts were discussed.

  • E. Culp shared the nursing concerns and perspective regarding movement of the concepts from the finding hierarchy to the situation hierarchy. She also shared that  the Nursing CRG believes that these are concepts where mitigation actions are undertaken by professionals to prevent the problems from their likely occurrence.

  • SNOMED has indicated to the Nursing CRG that the concepts will not be moved and will remain in the finding hierarchy.

  • SNOMED's proposed modeling approach for the concepts was shared.

The two questions from SNOMED were discussed and the CPG concurred with the NCPRO Classification Subcommittee that:

  • The ideas of Excessive nutrient intake (finding) and Inadequate nutrient intake (finding) have limited utility for nutrition documentation, do not exist in NCPT, but appear to be logical and useful for the modeling approach as presently proposed.

  • The definitions for the six 'at risk' nutrition concepts were reviewed and all six represent an increased risk of the problem occurring and not a decreased risk.
