C. Papoutsakis

The agenda and minutes (March 2021) were approved by consensus.

Nutrition care process, terminology, and Clinical Project Group (CPG)

3.1 July 2021 release plan and update

C. Papoutsakis

Background on the formation, goals, and work of the NCPT CPG were review. New collaboration with the Nursing CRG was shared.

The July 2021 release plan and update were also provided. Specific details regarding the number of concepts that are ready for release can be found here. This progress is also posted on the NCPT CPG landing page (scroll to the bottom of the page).

4

Templates and template compliance

4.1 Template compliance

D. Pertel

The compliance for the 3 templates that have emerged as a result of the pilot test (linked at left) were shared. The alignment for each of the templates is quite good. All (100%) of the misaligned concepts for each of the templates are expected.

5

Nutrient requirement discussion

5.1 Nutrient requirement

5.2 Miller, et al

D. Pertel

Nutrient requirements in SNOMED CT, specifically the areas of fiber and water were discussed.

The attendees determined that for 226268004 |Dietary fiber requirement (observable entity)|, non-starch polysaccharide requirement is not semantically equivalent to Dietary fiber and the recommendation is to inactivate that synonym as erroneous. NCPT does not have a concept equivalent to add.

226278001 |Water requirement (observable entity)| is not semantically equal to the concept required in NCPT which is Estimated fluid needs in 24 hours, which meets the need of a practical estimation of fluid required. A recommendation will be forwarded to the Nutrition Care Process and Research Outcomes (NCPRO) Committee to consider adding an NCPT for water requirement per day in the future to ensure both fluid and water are represented.

6

Binging

6.1 Binging concept review

D. Pertel

The discussion included the following recommendations:

Because Binging (finding) is ambiguous and could apply to drugs or alcohol, the recommendation is inactivation of the current concept and creation of the new concept: Binge eating behavior (finding).

Add to SNOMED CT, our observable Number of binge eating episodes per week for interprets attribute to model the concept. An updated draft model will be provided to the NCPT CPG.

A nutrition eating disorder expert group can be reached for input about the synonyms. Feedback will be provided to the NCPT CPG.

The current parent of Binging (finding) of Eating feeding / drinking observable did raise questions about its possible connection to 'drinking,' meaning alcohol ingestion, however, it is not clear. This are may need further exploration in the future.
