  • Brainstorming with Nursing CRG attendees

    • Discuss --391892008 |Goal directed therapy (regime/therapy)|, 386367000 |Mutual goal setting (regime/therapy)| , and 386429002 |Self-modification assistance (regime/therapy)|

    • Identify nursing and nutrition literature

    • Review possible locations for hierarchy placement

  • HL7 goal concepts

All

History of the concept:

The historical origin of 391892008 |Goal directed therapy (regime/therapy)| is as a synonym for manipulation of oxygen dynamics.  This The Anesthesia CRG has indicated that it is not useful to them because all therapy in anesthesia is goal directed. The Mental Health CRG has indicated that this concept is not use in psychotherapy practice. Yet, the historical aspect is important because there could be existing data in health records using this concept.

Understanding the concept:

The group discussion included current use with subjects and supporting 386367000 |Mutual goal setting (regime/therapy)|, which is consistent with its hierarchical placement generally as a behavioral intervention. Discussion also identified instances of nursing and nutrition goal setting that are professional driven, such as, prevention of pressure injury or advancement of enteral nutrition feeding in an intensive care setting, respectively.

Literature to support clear identification of the concept/s:

Potential sources of literature include person-centered care and behavioral psychology literature. Professional contacts in the psychology profession could also be useful (eg, Nanna Ruengkratok Lang, PhD, Denmark). The concepts are in the procedure hierarchy, specifically regime/therapy at this moment.

Encouraged prior to the continued discussion in April:

Sources of literature that will be useful for both a behavioral intervention and goal setting that does not involve mutual goal setting.

Outreach to colleagues in the various countries in which individuals reside.
