Review of models for hypersensitivity, autoimmune and allergic disorders

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Request from authoring team to investigate the modeling of certain immune-mediated disorders with >1 pathological process

  • Incremental implementation suggested

    • Initial steps:

      • Create new pathological process of immune hypersensitivity process

      • Define Immune hypersensitivity disorder by mechanism (rename to just  Immune hypersensitivity disorder) with above

      • New model for contact dermatitis using due to new event of topical exposure to substance

        • Allergic contact dermatitis:

          • isA Delayed hypersensitivity disorder

          • isA Cell-mediated cytotoxic disorder

          • Clinical course delayed onset

          • Due to topical exposure to substance

          • After topical exposure to substance

          • Pathological process non-allergic hypersensitivity process

          • Inactivate contact hypersenitivity (qualifier value) hierarchy

        • Present above to EAG

4

Combined disorder modeling

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Due to vs. co-occurrent with - needs more discussion with regard to authoring templates

  • Several examples presented.

  • Difficulty in generalizing editorial guidance regarding co-occurrence vs. due to because dependent upon the specific relationship between the associated conditions which may vary for different concepts under a particular hierarchy based on the secondary condition

  • Need to represent causality as well as temporal associations including co-occurrence was affirmed and thus the co-occurrent and due to pattern will be reinstated but the FSN will just state due to
