Reminder to record call

1

Welcome and role call

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Request for more direct involvement of group members in identifying topics for discussion and development and testing of concept models

2

After and due to

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Discussion ensued as to whether "due to" implies after

    • Likely the case for traumatic injuries (after traumatic event)

    • Need evaluation for other combined disorders

  • @Bruce Goldberg to test moving Due to (attribute) under After (attribute)

  • @Bruce Goldberg to find examples where due to may not imply after and where after may not imply due to

  • General agreement that after and due to should remain distinct

  • Use due to, after or due to and after based on FSNs

    • Exceptions

      • 239182004 |Skin graft hematoma (disorder)|

        • Due to 304040003 |Grafting to skin (procedure)|. Should be after 04040003 |Grafting to skin (procedure)| (+/- Due to)

      • Disorders due to exposure to substance events

        • Model as after exposure + causative agent substance

3

Fetal/maternal modeling

@Phil Brown

  • @Phil Brown to test a new attribute to associate fetal/maternal states with procedures

  • @Phil Brown demonstrated in an author test task the use of a new attribute, Recipient period with a range of 450426006 |Fetal or neonatal period (qualifier value)| to define procedures on the fetus occurring during different stages of pregnancy

  • Advantages include identification of duplicate concepts and being able to sufficiently define current intermediate primitives

  • @Phil Brown to continue to pursue this area

4

Pregnancy/labor/delivery function observables

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Proposal to inactivate these

5

Modeling of hemorrhage

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Hemorrhage as a disorder vs. finding

  • Finding site of hemorrhage

  • Main discussion - Finding site for hemorrhage of X (disorder)

    • X (body structure)

      • Advantage - simplicity

vs.

  •

    • Y Blood vessel of X (body structure) if blood vessel is part of body structure

    • 2 role groups: Damage + Y blood vessel structure and hemorrhage + X (body structure) if bleeding is into a space

      • Advantage - aligns with ICD-11 which interprets hemorrhage as blood vessel disorder.

      • Disadvantage - requires much work

    • @Yongsheng Gao to:

      • Determine which hemorrhage of X concepts not modeled with Y Blood vessel of X (body structure)

      • Investigate how to determine which hemorrhage of X concepts refer to spaces

  • Hemorrhage of blood vessel (disorder) vs. Bleeding (finding) needs further evaluation

Non-traumatic brain injuries and stroke

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Concern voiced over losing causative condition as a parent.

    • Needs more discussion

    @Bruce Goldberg to retest model of 724994008 |Cerebral ischemic stroke due to stenosis of extracranial large artery (disorder)| using due to 1055001 |Stenosis of precerebral artery (disorder)|

7

Botulism

@Bruce Goldberg

  • Proposed model for botulism and subtypes
