Conflict of Interest

@Scott Campbell

2

Naming convention question

@Scott Campbell

Management/clarification of parenthetical margins:

372438005 |Presence of neoplasm at deep (radial) surgical margin of excised specimen (observable entity)|

384786009 |Status of surgical lateral (mucosal/mural) margin involvement by tumor (observable entity)|

@Scott Campbell  to engage CAP to find historical references to disambiguate these terms and address parenthetical terms

@Scott Campbell discussed with Richard Moldwin at CAP.  Parenthetical margins represent historical artifacts that no longer pertain.  These pertain to colorectal cancers and can be modeled appropriately with removed of parenthetical references.

3

Naming/concept question

@Scott Campbell

 6050001000004103 |Presence of neoplasm at peripheral cutaneous surgical margin of excised specimen (observable entity)|

Revisit for discussion and documentation

@Scott Campbell create peripheral cutaneous surgin margin concept

Remove "cutaneous" from FSN.  Use component vs. Relative to attributes.  Added Inherent location = skin structure

4

Presence vs. extent of presence

@Scott Campbell

Modeling of "Presence" and "Extent of presence" of X at margin Y

Are distinct concepts needed or can this be managed by synonyms

These concepts will remain as ordinal.  Presence of the neoplasm at the margin is the primary use case.  However, degrees of presence are possible in some organ systems. Pathology language as used in value sets is ambiguous.  The group decision is to use "extent of presence" in synonyms but not in the FSN for concepts.  FSN's will only state "Presence"

5

Grade of neoplasm at surgical margin

@Scott Campbell

Modeling of grade of neoplasm at surgical margin. What is proper model - review example

Requires further discussion

6

Prostate histologies

@Stefan Dubois

Review list provided by Stefan and determine next steps

Not discussed
