Pseudoallergy

BGO

• The term "pseudoallergy" is obsolete as discrete pathophysiologic mechanisms have been identified. Recommendation is to replace with non-allergic hypersensitivity which will align more closely with WAO/EAAAI nomenclature 

• General agreement on retiring current pseudoallergy concepts with nonallergic hypersensitivity and retaining pseudoallergy as a synonym.

• General agreement with proposed model for organizing nonallergic hypersensitivity by mechanism using discrete nonallergic hypersensitivity process subtypes.

• Unresolved discussion as to whether intolerance is a subtype of nonallergic hypersensitivity or the same as nonallergic hypersensitivity

  • Should definition of non-allergic hypersensitivity include ...symptoms resembling allergy....?
