Statement of problem as requested or initially identified

  1. FSNs have a mix of Arteriography, Angiogram, arteriogram, athrogram, e.g.

    1. 84200003 Arteriography of pulmonary arteries (procedure)

    2. 241232001 Bronchial arteriogram (procedure)

    3. 241217008 Cerebral four vessel angiogram (procedure)

  2. A similar problem exists with regard to Arthrography

    1. 33148003 Arthrography (procedure); synonym: arthrogram

  3. Synonyms have not been added in a consistent manner and are not always true synonyms but instead are "near" synonyms

  1.

    1. Angiogram, arteriogram, athrogram and other imaging concepts ending with suffix "gram" have been used extensively as synonyms on angiography, ateriography and arthrography procedure concepts.

    2. The problem here is that – gram refers to a picture or a record while – graphy refers to the process of producing a picture or record.

  2. Editorial guidance currently prescribes the following naming patterns:

Preferred term inconsistent abbreviation usage

Computed tomography Preferred term to be "CT" however Magnetic Resonance does not prescribe "MR".

  • Magnetic resonance angiography

    •

      •

        • FSN: Magnetic resonance angiography of X (procedure)

        • PT: Magnetic resonance angiography of X

        • Synonym: Magnetic resonance angiogram of X

        • Synonym: MR angiography of X

  • Magnetic resonance venography

  •

    •

      • FSN: Magnetic resonance venography of X (procedure)

      • PT: Magnetic resonance venography of X

      • Synonym: Magnetic resonance venogram of X

      • Synonym: MR venography of X

  • Magnetic resonance arthrography
