End to End Editing Work Flow

End to End Editing Work Flow

  • SCA - Best Practice Editing Process

The golden rule that comes with this workflow: any content that gets promoted as part of a project into MAIN must be complete. This means reviewed, classified with the necessary quality assurance having been done. There are no restrictions or warnings that prevent a task or project from being promoted if it hasn't been reviewed, or classified or validated. Authors must decide what business process restriction they would like implemented in the future

  1. On the Dashboard  -check to see if your task or project needs to be rebased - you don't have to it but it will prevent conflicts

  2. Task Level

  3.

    • Begin editing

    • Select or Create a Task: From the dashboard, create a new task (or several) and select it (or select an existing task if applicable)

    • Add description

    • Select a Concept for Editing: Within the Edit View: Select a Concept for editing (Search, Saved List) or Select, Create a new concept

    • Add Description

    • Modify or Create a Concept: Modify the existing concept or author a new concept

    • Save your work

  4. Classify your task

  5.

    • Accept Classification results - SAVE or your results will be compiled in the classification results of others

  6. Validation - Does not need to be run at task level, it’s an optional step it will check if the rules are in place - we implemented this previously because we didn't have validation in the edit panel. We will let you assess if it has any value to be available.

  7. Submit for review

  8.

    • Exchange review and feedback with a reviewer. When reviewer marks a review as complete you can resume editing your task.

    •

      • While editing if another user promotes a task with modifications you will receive a notification that you have Concept Merges to Review

      • While editing if a user pulls in changes from the mainline for your project (resulting from another project being promoted) you will need to pull in these changes as well) Use Rebase button to complete.

    • If you want to review or look at someone’s task you have two options. 1- Submit your task for review so others can claim the review, provide  feedback they can unclaim the the task and others can claim it or 2 go to the TS browser and look up the task

  9. Once your are satisfied with the work on your task and there are no concepts merges to review, promote your task

  10. Project Level Project Promotion

Once all task on a project are complete, or you want to promote a project perform these next steps.

STEP 1 -The first step is to Pull in Changes from Mainline (button will be greyed if not up to date and status is forward) then Classify, Validate and Promote

STEP 2, if needed -If classification is run and it is empty, then accept, Validate and Promote.
If the Classification report is NOT acceptable then Correct, Classify again, Validate and Promote.

STEP 3, if needed- If the Validation results are NOT acceptable, then Correct, Classify, Validate and Promote

If Classification or the Validation generates a message indicating that it has failed? Try to re-run until you get either no results or errors and correct in those steps

If the project is promoted with uncompleted tasks, these task will remain in the project .
