Here is what I have come up with so far. After you've discussed with your group and we have reached a decision on the needed concepts, I can submit it to Yong for review. We'll also need to decide where the concepts should be added at this time (extension or international release).

• "Cervical (proximal) esophagus" listed on sheet. It appears this already exists in SNOMED: 60075002 |Cervical esophagus structure (body structure)|. Is this concept suitable? OK

• "Mid esophagus, upper thoracic esophagus" listed on sheet. We can request a new concept "Structure of upper thoracic esophagus (body structure)" be added as a child of of 59609004 |Thoracic esophagus structure (body structure)|. OK

• "Mid esophagus, middle thoracic esophagus" listed on sheet. We can request a new concept of "Structure of middle thoracic esophagus (body structure)" be added as a child of 59609004 |Thoracic esophagus structure (body structure)|. OK

• "Mid esophagus, not otherwise specified" listed on sheet. Would 19000002 |Structure of middle third of esophagus (body structure)| be suitable to use? OK

• "Distal esophagus (low thoracic esophagus)" listed on sheet. Is this the same as 67173009 |Structure of lower third of esophagus (body structure)|? If not, we can request a new concept of "Structure of lower thoracic esophagus (body structure)" be added as a child of 59609004 |Thoracic esophagus structure (body structure)|. OK

• "Esophagogastric junction (EGJ)" listed on sheet. Suggest |25271004 |Cardioesophageal junction structure (body structure)| be considered as a match. OK

• "Proximal stomach/cardia" listed on sheet. We need more information about this to determine a suitable concept. Consider 116209005 |Proximal stomach structure (body structure)| which includes 62898002 |Cardia structure (body structure)|. No action

• "Other" - not sure what is meant by this. How is it different from "Esophagus, not otherwise specified?" I assume we will not include a SNOMED concept for this in the value set. OK

• "Esophagus, not otherwise specified" listed on sheet. This would correspond to 32849002 |Esophageal structure (body structure). OK
