Declaration of Interests
This page is viewable by group members and IHTSDO employees only.
Members of IHTSDO Advisory Groups have a range of professional, employment, and financial interests. Their diverse interests and experiences, both within and outside IHTSDO, benefit the organization and global terminology development efforts, but they may also create potential conflicts of interest. Potential conflicts may, but need not necessarily, relate to financial considerations. They could also relate to the varying interests of different standards development organizations, professional associations, and academic bodies.
The purpose of this page is to put the interests of this group's individual members out in the open so that they are known to all in the group and to relevant IHTSDO staff members. Each group member is responsible for updating his or her own information as it changes. In addition, the general guidelines described in the IHTSDO Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics Policy still applies to meetings:
Each participant shall declare any interest he or she has in any item submitted at an IHTSDO meeting for consideration.
All IHTSDO meetings will include, as an initial agenda item, a request for participants to declare potential conflicts of interest, recognizing the difference between having an interest in a topic and there being a conflict in that interest to the interests of IHTSDO.
It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure that they notify the Chair of the meeting of any interest related to any agenda item, whether prompted to do so or not, at the outset of the meeting.
Declarations of interest(s) at meetings and any necessary actions must be clearly recorded in the minutes of that meeting.
Participants declaring interests may be permitted to stay in the room whilst an item giving rise to a conflict is being addressed. Where this is the case, individuals are permitted to contribute to the discussion. The decision as to whether the participant may stay in the room and contribute to the discussion is at the discretion of the chair or lead of the meeting in question.
At IHTSDO meetings, a participant should not chair or lead discussion on agenda items for which he or she has declared a conflict of interest. In such instances, the participant must re-state his or her interest prior to the meeting, unless an item is raised under “Any Other Business.” If possible, an alternative chair or lead shall be nominated and, where this is not possible, the participant must re-state his or her interest during the meeting.
Participants shall not be permitted to vote on items in which they have declared a conflict of interest and may be asked to leave the room during any voting process. (See link above for complete guidelines.)
The declarations of interest of group members are listed below, together with the date that they were last updated or confirmed as accurate. Each group member should update the list (1) as new potential conflicts of interest arise (for example, the group member assumes a new position on a board of another organization), and (2) once a year in October. If there are no new updates in October, then the "Last updated" date can be noted as a "Confirmed as accurate" date.
