New Zealand Groups
NRC organised meeting. Health and Social Care, joined up services, culturally and equity focused.
- Te Tihi Alliance, H&SC – Focused on indigenous peoples. WHO definition too broad and feel that deficit approach is a self-fulfilling prophesy. More focused on engagement to enable pathway to inspiration – avoiding categorising by using algorithms! Services – housing,/child services/education/police with data linked between all so can get early warnings/indicators. Family access to data so can have input to decisions.
- Think Havoa, Primary Health -
- Social Wellbeing Agency (government agency) – main focus of attendee is data standards and reporting. Currently no terminology being used. Wanting to use SNOMED CT. Starting with housing. Social events record. Solution Architect
There are components of SNOMED CT that can be used to enable pathways locally. Ability for consumer entered data, making information more meaningful. Need patient friendly terms. SNOMED CT enables a common language and vision is for a national extension with relevant synonyms.
Need to unbundle SNOMED health focus to enable social care to be included and to encourage services to use SNOMED CT. About keeping people well, and addressing influencing factors and not just about provision health care.
From perspective of indigenous people, need to consider the differences of indigenous people within a country as well as across borders.
