All requests to promote U.S. Extension concepts should be submitted to the U.S. NRC using the batch template.

International users need to download the batch template document from the International Content Request System (CRS) (https://request.ihtsdotools.org).

Users in the U.S. need to download the batch template document from the United States Content Request System (US CRS) (https://us-request.ihtsdotools.org/).

You will find the batch template download under New Batch Import from the International CRS and US CRS dashboards.

After downloading the appropriate batch template document, select the New Concept tab and populate the following fields:

Topic: Select the semantic tag for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted

Originating Organization: Select your country

Local SNOMED CT Code: Add the ID for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted

Fully Specified Name: Provide the FSN for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted

Semantic Tag: Select the semantic tag for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted

Preferred Term: Provide the preferred term for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted

Terminology(1): Select SNOMED CT International

Parent Concept Id(1): Provide the parent concept ID for the U.S. Extension concept being promoted. If more than one parent concept is required, use the Parent Concept Id(2) and Parent Concept Id(3) fields to provide that information.

Purposed Use: Content promotion request

Notes: Provide any additional applicable information about the request

Synonyms: Include any synonyms from the U.S. Extension concept that you want to be promoted alongside the concept

Summary: Request for promotion of U.S. Extension content to the International Edition

References: Provide links to appropriate references to demonstrate international applicability

Please note: A batch template document cannot include more than 50 concepts. Requests to promote more than 50 concepts must be split into multiple batch template files.

Please email a completed batch template document to the U.S. NRC (NLMSNOMEDInformation@mail.nih.gov) for review.

If approved, the U.S. NRC will process the requests in one of two ways:

1. For batch requests to promote 0-20 concepts, the U.S. NRC will process them using the authoring platform workflow.

•  The U.S. NRC will send the requesting NRC a link to all the applicable International CRS tickets for their records.

2. For batch requests to promote 21 or more concepts, the U.S. NRC will forward the requests to the SNOMED International technical team for batch processing by submitting a ticket in the International CRS. The requesting NRC or U.S. user will be copied on the email.

Please note: The US NRC release cycles begin in January and July. During these periods, promotion requests may be delayed because the authoring platform is locked down.
