5.4 Categories of Change
In the context of the Content Change Management Process, Requests for Change can be categorized as:
Simple – It is expected that simple requests would be 'Minor' changes which would normally have the following characteristics:
Single or small scale multiple additions or amendments to SNOMED CT, existing cross map products and Translations. Clarifications or corrections to the documentation of Standards
Has no implications to defined policies or processes within the IHTSDO or any Member or Partner organization
Has no implications for existing implementations of SNOMED CT and or derivatives
Complex - It is expected that Complex requests would be more 'Significant' or 'Major' changes which would normally have the following characteristics:
Significant
'Significant' – multiple large scale or bulk additions or amendments to SNOMED CT, existing cross map products and translations
'Significant' – requires changes to more than 1 existing IHTSDO product
'Significant' – has implications to defined policies or processes within either the IHTSDO, Member country, Partner organizations or existing implementations of SNOMED CT and or its derivatives
Major
'Major' – Requests for new products (e.g. Translation or Cross Map)
'Major' – Has implications to SNOMED CT concept model
'Major' – Has implications to defined and published IHTSDO Standards
'Major' – Has implications to defined IHTSDO and Member countries policies and or processes
'Significant' or 'Major' would normally require formal consultation process to be initiated as defined within the Content Change Management Process
