Use case 7: Employing KBC in the context of prospective clinical and research registries (FORme-Registry)

FOrMe - The German MCD/FSGS Registry is designed as a prospective, observational registry of patients suffering from minimal change disease (MCD)/ Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The registry incorporates a web-based database as well as standardized biobanking. The registry is fully funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and aims to transform into a multicentric registry. A central aim of the registry is to provide a standardized nephropathological assessment and detailed annotation of all available renal biopsy specimens. Granular histopathological classification will be correlated to a broad spectrum of molecular as well as clinical data sets. Virtual slides are all stored in a web-accessible database (Omero, Pathviewer) and will be reviewed and annotated by a team of experienced nephropathologists. Defined parameters embedded in the KBC will be selected to annotate, grade and classify respective virtual kidney biopsy samples (contact persons Christoph Schell, Paul Brinkkötter).
