3 | Body Mass Index (BMI) findings Please review prior to mtg the body mass index findings spreadsheet Elaine posted on the CRG’s forum questions for the group to support the review and revision of the BMI findings subhierarchy: https://forums.snomed.org/t/bmi-findings-measurement-vs-interpretation/1076 Small group met under guidance of Rebecca Niitzel Rebecca to share today results of SME mtg to reorganize this area | E. Wooler R. Niitzel |
| Input continues to be in the direction to have BMI as a stand-alone without interpretation words like overweight and obesity OR numbers. Proposal to remove the parent of nutrition finding Proposal to add height/growth finding as a child to body measurement finding Some inactivation of concepts will lead to the need to author new concepts Specific ranges reflect the ethnic background, eg Asian population may have a lower BMI range to reflect obesity It is not a country level determination. A possible vision is to have a “question and answer” set. Some of these concepts have heavy use. We need to obtain further feedback from additional disciplines and countries. Downstream effects (in relation to HL7), the separation is already used and wording used is ‘above normal’ and ‘below normal’. There could be hard-coded documents in use and we are still investigating (HL7 mtg in Rotterdam), more to be shared.

4 | Future Projects-Reminder The future projects spreadsheet that also functions are our workplan @Elaine Wooler will discuss a group of independent inquiries on malnutrition, CRG group to decide way forward After review of projects, Group agreed to continue with the macronutrients project as relevant to the previous agenda item as well. | E. Wooler C. Papoutsakis |
| Malnutrition inquiries are placed at a higher priority given the multiple iquiries by various countries. A question was raised how undernutrition/malnutrition are defined. No concrete decision although the group agreed the malnutrition hierarchy is very important to work on. |
