Cognitive-Perception vs. Perception

Seeking input on whether and how the the idea expressed by the term cognitive perception differs from the idea expressed by the term perception.

The work the CRG did around perception and sensation led to us to define perception as an inherently cognitive process. Is the term cognitive perception simply a way of making clear that one is referring to the cognitive rather than the sensory aspects of some perceptual experience?
