• Exciting changes are coming to SNOMED International’s collaborative tools and platforms!

• Clean up on CMAG site has been undertaken in prep for the transition. 

  • CMAG members to feedback if any issues relating to archived content. 

Lateralised imaging extension content

• See details on CMAG Lateralised Imaging Subproject

  • Group members asked to review content, in particular countries with content in the spreadsheet. See list of review items on subproject page. 

    • Where the base concept and relevant anatomy isn't present in the relevant national extension or international edition, these concepts will need to be created by the national extension owner to support content promotion. 

  • Australia, UK, Norway, New Zealand, Canada and Sweden interested in participating. 

  • Review work will need to start later this year (about November onwards) given other national commitments/resource constraints.  UK would be early 2026. 

  • UK is creating lateralised concepts in this area to support a national requirement. Aware some content may overlap with this project. @Graeme Elsby (Unlicensed) Will provide a list to @Monica Harry of approx. 500 base concepts that they plan to lateralise. List will be added to the project site. 

  • AU also has approx. 1500 -2000 radiology content requests, work here will be of value to them. 

  • Submission method yet to be confirmed. Technical approaches to automate content promotion (with review of the promoted content by an International Terminologist) will be looked at for feasibility. 

Content tracker update

• Review of trackers is continuing.

• Trackers that

  • are older,

  • are not seen as a member priority, or

  • need clinical expertise to resolve and that isn't available, are being closed. 

• The remaining trackers will be shown to the CMAG for review.  

Social care project wrap up

• Social care content requirements project - provides overview

• Request for information from CMAG members on usage of concept promoted to fill gaps. Rationale: to close the loop, see if the work undertaken was beneficial.  

  • Australia hasn't used the content but can see these will be of value. They will look at them.

  • The potential to see use given the recent addition of these (approx. 12 months ago) was raised. 

• If group members could review the list and comment on potential usefulness to them, usage (if available) by October please. 

SNOMED mental health content

• Work with clinical experts in Norway has shown that the current mental health content in SNOMED is outdated, not meeting needs and needs review. Norway is looking to see if other members experiencing the same issue. Norway uses ICD not DSM5. 

• Germany is not using - content is very outdated. Aware Austria is having issues with the content.

• Australia agrees content is outdated. 

• Denmark isn't using content.

• Canada - area ties into some substance use and requests - bipolar and autism. Needs up to date content for that.

• Norway happy to contribute to improvement of content. Will encourage SME's to contribute to the MBH group.

• Terminologist who works with MBH group - unable to attend call but email on issue has been forwarded. 

• Group advised to take this topic area to the MF, Monica will advise Jim on the discussion. 

Editorial Guide - inclusion of drug content

• The next edition of the Editorial Guide, scheduled for September, will contain the National Extension Drug Model document (http://snomed.org/ndem).  

• Last month, the Medicinal Product Model Specification (http://snomed.org/mpm) was merged into the Editorial Guide.  

• Both are located under the Pharmaceutical and Biologic Product section of the Editorial Guide. This will prevent users from having to go elsewhere for related information.

• Update on Inactivate Procedure carried out briefing note:

  • After consideration, SNOMED International will refrain from pursuing inactivation of these concepts. Instead, concepts will be modeled as best as possible and will remain within the terminology.  The Pre-Coordination Pattern will remain as-is with no further content will be accepted in this area.
