6 | NLM (National Library of Medicine) Request for Feedback from the Nutrition and Dietetics CRG
From: John Snyder SNOMED International (SI) recently purposed reactivating the “Deficiency of (attribute)” concept to be used in modeling physiological disorders. The initial round of feedback resulted in a rework of the proposal because there was no symmetrical attribute to represent disorders caused by an excess of a substance or cell type in the body. SI has reworked the proposal and sent it back out for additional review and feedback. This change would make a clear distinction between evaluation measurement results, which are modeled using Interprets / Has interpretation attributes, and physiological disorders caused by a deficiency or excess of <X>.
The addition of these attributes may potentially have a significant impact on the modeling and classification of nutrition related disorders.
| J. Snyder/E.Wooler |
| Elaine explained the need this addition will be serving in improving the modeling of deficiency concepts. Tina added terms like maknutrtion could benefit. Bill and group agreed. Ideally discuss this even further in next mtg with @John Snyder Overall this CRG supports the proposal.
