Related Terminologies and Classification Systems - Mental and Behavioural Health Clinical Reference Group

The table below contains terminologies, ontologies, nomenclatures, and controlled vocabularies as well as other, less formal information resources such as databases and matrices. Databases and matrices are included because they contain concepts relevant to the domain. Formal representations of concepts and commonly used terms can be extracted from these resources.

Many of the formal systems designed to represent healthcare information do not adequately model or cover mental and behavioural health. Many systems designed to represent mental and behavioral health information cover the domain well but are not formally represented. In some cases, two distinct systems are designed for the same purpose (e.g, indexing the literature), with one designed to cover the entire domain of healthcare, but containing a less robust representation of the mental and behavioural health domain (e.g., MeSH), the other with robust coverage of the mental and behavioural health domain, but represented in a way that is less accessible to electronic systems and computational processes (e.g., Psych Index Terms).
