How to make your Content Development Word Document into a Confluence page - draft

Over time the plan is to do our content development documentation directly in confluence using a template that covers all stages of development. These templates are currently under development. In the interim we will continue to use our word documents and then upload these (and any previously developed content development documents as required) into confluence as confluence pages. The Content Development document page will sit as a child of: Content Project Tracker Documents.

This guide focuses on the inception, elaboration documentation over the fast track document however the same steps can be applied.

Note: If you have an attachment such as an excel spreadsheet, zip file etc that accompanies the document it should be uploaded to the confluence page as an attachment in the appendix section. E.g. Appendix A

If you come across anything not covered in this guide that should be added please contact @Cathy Richardson -this is a work in progress

So how do you do this?

Create a new page as a child of Content Project Tracker Documents by navigating to that page and selecting the import word document function.

Select the file to import and select next.

Name the document (see Document Naming Conventions below) and select the options as noted in the screenshot below.

Click Import.

Select continue.

The document appears at the bottom of the page tree but Cathy will see it's be added and will move it for you into the correct area. For content tracker documents it will sit under Content Project Tracker documents.

You then need to add the LINKS section. Use Heading 3 to do that.

Add your links:

  • JIRA issue

  • Others may include

    • a previous word version that was uploaded to confluence

    • Projects

    • discussion on the topic at an Advisory, Special Interest or Project Group meeting

The document review page link and set up will be managed by @Cathy Richardson

Attachments such as excel files and previous versions of the document are added at the bottom of the page.

Where the word version of the document does not exist on Confluence please add the document to the page noting the version. The most current version should be accessible.

Table of Contents

Needs to be added for fast track documents and updated for the other content documents.

The screenshot below shows where the new table of contents should be placed

And don't forget to save or you will lose all that hard work!

If you are updating the page don't forget to add a comment in the comment field so we can know what the change was.

Document Naming Conventions

The page title should use the naming convention

Tracker ID (artf number- if applicable) Tracker Name

For example:

  • IHTSDO-41 (artf222643) Modelling of X in remission

  • IHTSDO-955 Remodel Talipes Valgus

  • SCTQA-92 Revise Care plan concepts

Do not:

  • use other special characters e.g. | ? as they can cause issues.

  • include the version number

  • include the type (inception etc) of document

Restricting access while it's under development

If you would like the page 'not to public' while you are working on the document (Note: it will be public when finished) please email @Cathy Richardson to arrange this.
